Impulse Install

INSTALL IMPULSE

During the initial install of the Impulse application on any computer, options would have been selected that may or may not govern administrative user permissions that have an impact on smooth running of the Impulse application.

THIRD PARTY APPLICATIONS
Impulse also interfaces with several Third-Party applications that must be installed correctly to allow the application to run smoothly
Microsoft Word
Word is a vital component for most practices where word processing is done
Adobe Reader
This is used to open PDF documents that have been scanned and held against patient details.

PRIOR TO IMPULSE INSTALL

Ensure you have a full copy of the Impulse database and log files [Secur@T.mdf and Secur@T_Log.LDF] from existing server and a current backup.
  1. [Usually in it in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.DIVISIONREPORT\MSSQL\DATA [or wherever the Microsoft SQL instance is]
  1. Copy of the Impulse folder from Existing Workstation.
  1. Usually in C:\Program Files\MedNetwork\Impulse
  1. Copy The Impulse documents and Images folders from existing server
  1. C:\Program Files\MedNetwork\Impulse\Documents or if share has been created for documents please copy the Documents and Images folders into the share
  1. Disable UAC on the new computer and reboot
  1. Disable all screen savers
IMPULSE INSTALL ON SERVER
This must be done under full Administrative Privileges

Install Microsoft SQL Server if server install
Microsoft SQL Server
  1. Download and install copy of Microsoft SQL Express Server 14,16,17 or 19 with Tools from the Microsoft web site
  1. Install as MIXED MODE
  1. Username: sa
  1. Password: [password_will_be_provided]
  1. Install Microsoft SQL Express Server and Microsoft SQL Server Management Tools
  1. Install as MIXED MODE
  1. Create instance SQLEXPRESS
  1. When install complete browse to install location and the instance install
  1. Copy The Impulse Database and Log file to the DATA Folder under the instance name
  1. Close and Select the Instance
  1. Right-mouse click Properties\Security
  1. Ensure the Users has full control or if this is not acceptable then at the very least
  1. Read and execute
  1. Read
  1. Write
  1. Modify

Apply these settings

In Computer Management \Services and Applications

Ensure that the SQL Server Configuration management Protocols for SQLEXPRESS and SQL Native Configuration Client Protocols are enabled

Open the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

  1. Select SQL Server Configuration Manager
  2. Select SQL Server Network Configuration\Protocols for DivisionReport
  3. Enable all Protocols

Attach the Impulse Database supplied with Impulse install CD or attach existing database
  1. Select the Security option and logins
  2. Delete the divra user of the master database.
  3. On the master recreate the divra user with password [password_will_be_provided]

Impulse Server install

Create a MedNetwork Folder: C:\Program Files\MedNetwork
Create a Subfolder by coping Impulse folder in the MedNetwork Folder
Right-mouse click on the MedNetwork Folder and select Properties\Security
Ensure the Users group has full control
  1. Read and execute
  1. Read
  1. Write
  1. Modify

Apply these settings

Select The Impulse Folder [ C:\Program Files\MedNetwork\Impulse]
Select the bin folder
Call Mednet 1300 765 110 for latest application files to be installed prior to copying the existing Bin Folder as an Impulse subfolder

Impulse Install where NEW Impulse application files are to be installed
Update the Impulse Bin Folder by copying and pasting the Impulse new application files if supplied on the Impulse CD. Overwrite the older application files
Open the Bin folder

Select Dbu_MSQL.Exe [current Impulse] Dbu_PRODA.exe. [Proda release]
Run as Administrator
  1. If the present database version is not the same as the Latest version
  1. Make sure you have a database backup and click the option YES I have complete a backup Click the Update button
  1. DO NOT STOP THE PROCESS ONCE STARTED
  1. When complete click Reset Counters Button
  1. Close
Select EASYINST.exe and Run as Administrator
  1. Select Set Up
  2. Enter Database Source name [Install name eg: Boardroom\SQLEXPRESS]
  1. Database name [eg: Secur@t]
  2. Station Number: This has to be a unique number [Server is usually Station 1]
  1.  Product use: Impulse
  2. Click TEST DB Connect
  1. My must select a default Station Location
  2. Click Save Settings and Close
  1. Close Application
Now install all Third-Party software and give full administrative permissions to USERS.

Microsoft Word
  1. New security settings have been added to Microsoft word that may have an impact on how users view documents through the document manager.
  1. Open a Word document
  1. Select File\Options
  1. Trust Centre\Trust Centre Settings
  1. File Block Settings
  1. Untick all open File Types
  1. Tick option ’Open Selected file type in protected view’
  1. Click OK
Add Administrative privileges for all users to the following
Also be aware that windows writes temporary files in the User profile
These should all have full administrative privilege
  1. Under Options\Save
  1. Auto Recovery File locations
  1. Default Local File Location
  1. Server Drafts Location

  1. Impulse.exe
  1. Easyinst.exe
  1. MedCommsV5_SQL.exe
  1. Dbu_MSQL.exe
  1. R3exe.exe
  1. R3.exe
  1. Impulse_PRODA_RTC.exe
