Impulse Update V7.250 March 2022

The major change in this version is the upgrade to Medicare Online Web Services. You will need to have completed your PRODA registration prior to running this update. You can view these steps here.


Major changes in this version include:

Ability to change the colour scheme of Impulse

The first thing that you will notice when you log into the new version of Impulse is that a new colour scheme has been implemented.

Users can now individually set the colour scheme that suits them. This will affect the background as well as the colours of the active buttons.

To view the different styles available, simply click the menu option at the bottom of the main screen.

Medicare Web Services

Many of the changes for the upgrade to web services for Medicare Online are in the background and does not change the functionality of online claiming from it's existing process within Impulse.

Before sites are able to transmit using the web services version of Impulse, they will need to Register for an individual PRODA account, Register their Organisation, Add Medicare Online as a service provider, and Register Impulse as a B2B device

Edit rejected invoices

Users are now able to edit certain invoices without having to journal them.

For online claims to Medicare, DVA & via ECLIPSE, you will be able to edit invoices from the unprocessed list. Simply click the view vouchers button at the bottom of the screen and click the View Billing button. Make the appropriate changes and press the save button.

Patient claims and rejected online claims can also be edited. Again, simply press the view vouchers button in the action file/rejected tabs and click the View Billing button.

You can also access the View Billing button via the account enquiry screen.

Active Windows Buttons

When a screen is minimised in Impulse, such as the appointment book or patient details, a button will now appear on the main screen of Impulse.

These buttons can be found under the file menu. To reopen the window, simply click the button.

Use today's date for verification checks

Impulse now allows users to use today's date as the default date for PVM, PVV, OPV, PVF and concession checks.

On the patient details screen, simply tick the box under the verification buttons.

Invoice for IMC ticked as default

Users can now choose the have Invoice for IMC ticked as default.

This will be ticked for all fee types when the selected location is a hospital.

To set this up, on the main screen of Impulse go to Setup > Practice

On the pop-up screen, click Practice Settings. Click on the line "Billing auto-tick IMC". Click the edit button.

In the 2nd column type the word Yes.

Tick to save. Close out of practice settings.

Discounts

Impulse now allows you to calculate and apply discounts on private invoices.

Discounts can be calculated by either a dollar amount of by percentage. It can also either be applied to the entire invoice or the individual lines.

Discounts cannot exceed the gap amount of the invoice.

To setup discounts, on the main screen of Impulse go to Setup > Practice

On the pop-up screen, click Practice Settings. Click on the line "Use Apply Discounts". Click the edit button.

In the 2nd column type the word Yes.

Tick to save. Close out of practice settings.

Discounts are applied before the payment methods screen, where you select which invoice you wish to pay.

Cancel Patient Claims before transmitting

Patient claims can now be cancelled after you have pressed Pat C Online.

On the invoice selection screen for payment, to stop the patient claim from being transmitted, simply click the Cancel Lodgment button.

If you have accepted payment and want to stop the patient claim, simply tick the Cancel Patient Claim checkbox on the print receipt screen.

Removal of provider from admissions

Admissions no longer require you to nominate a provider.

They are valid for all episodes of care, no matter the provider that is billed - as long as it is within the same hospital and admission dates as nominiated.

AKA field in appointment book

If you have entered a name in the AKA field of patient details, this will now appear in the name section of the appointment book in square brackets [ ].

Please note: This field will only appear for new appointments added AFTER you have updated. For existing appointments, you will still need to look at the bottom of the appointment book screen for the AKA.

Mobile number in appointment book

The mobile number will now appear as default in the name section of the appointment book if one has been entered. This will replace the home number field,

The home number will still appear if there is no mobile number for the patient added.

Please note: This field will only appear for new appointments added AFTER you have updated. For existing appointments, you will still need to look at the bottom of the appointment book screen or patient details for the mobile number.

See a patient's future appointments

In addition to the patient appointment search screen, we have added 2 new ways you can see future appointments for a patient.

On the bottom of the appointment screen, there is now a Next Apt drop-down. Simply select the appointment you want to go to and press the box with the 3 dots. You will be taken to that appointment slot.

On the patient details screen, if you double click the Next Appointment words near the patient name, a pop-up will appear with up to the next 10 appointments for the patient.

Use last patient

You can now bring up the last patient that you were working with on the patient search screen.

To bring up the last patient opened, simply press SHIFT and 8.

Resend SMS

Users can now resend SMS which have previously been sent.

On the create SMS screen, simply click Already Sent to choose the appointments you want to send again.

Launch Zoho from help menu

We have made it easier to now access both our online knowledge base, and launch a remote support session. 

Both options can be found in the HELP menu on the main screen of Impulse.
